【History】
This three-stringed musical instrument is thought to have come from China through the Ryukyu Islands to Japan in the early 15th century. With further modifications, the shamisen came into popular use during the early Edo era (17 C).
The neck and the body are made separately by hand, usually of red sanders wood or Thai pradu wood.
