Social Education and Collaboration between Schools and the Community

The Osaka Prefectural Board of Education supports communities in making bonds with a focus on children and promotes study by residents with the aim of improving the educational capacity of families and communities.

As initiatives to attain the aim, it accelerates home education, in addition to working together with schools, families and communities to promote the formation of child-nurturing “educational communities”, which assist schools via activities and offer children the venues where they can experience a variety of hands-on activities after school or on holidays. It also gives local communities volunteers and PTA members the training, leading to their spontaneous actions.

The Osaka Prefectural Board of Education is offering opportunities in which children are familiarized with books, enlightening their parents and training relative organizations in order to increase children’s reading activities, in addition to promoting residential study and hands-on learning by utilizing mainly social education facilities such as libraries.
